K-pop fans in Malaysia are in for a fun evening this end of month with some of the biggest acts in the current K-pop scene. Of course, we’re talking about “Wkndfest Vol. 1: K-Pop Edition”.

Malaysian iKONIC have been wondering whether YG boyband iKON will still be headlining the concert following the scandal that plagued the group, which led to the departure of leader B.I, but the latest update assured fans that the remaining 6 members will still be coming to town.

Check out these new date and time (still the same venue) for the music festival:
Date: 30 August 2019 (Friday)
Time: 5pm (doors open)
Venue: Axiata Arena
Previously, it was scheduled to be held on 1 September. It seems that due to fans’ complaints that the concert shouldn’t be held on a religious holiday (Awal Muharram falls on the same day), the concert has since been moved up a couple of days – holding it on 31 August is out of the question, it would’ve irked patriotic Malaysians as it would’ve clashed with the nation’s Independence Day.
Some disgruntled fans have also previously voiced their dissatisfaction over the ticket prices, which, ranging from RM358 to RM888, were deemed too pricey for a K-pop concert.
The revised prices now range from RM338 to RM788 (excluding booking fees). Purchase of tickets can be made at .
For fans who have purchased their tickets earlier for the 1 September show, the organiser can be contacted regarding this at https://www.facebook.com/wkndfest/

The plan for the standing zone.

The full lineup has also been announced. iKON and girl groups Momoland, Mamamoo, and (G)I-dle, whose participation was confirmed earlier in June, will be joined by 2 more K-pop acts: Tiffany Young, of SNSD fame, and 7-member boyband VAV.

Each act is estimated to perform for an hour since the concert promises to deliver 6 hours of non-stop K-pop fun!

6 hours of fun with these 6 K-pop acts!

“The concept behind Vol. 1: K-Pop Edition was formed based on the growing interest and fan base in Malaysia and to offer fans a once-in-a-lifetime experience with sought-after KPOP acts. We hope that this will be the first of a series of shows we develop, as we want to reintroduce the excitement of experiencing live music festivals here in Malaysia and hopefully, regionally,” said Amirul Hafiz, Executive Director of WkndFest, in a press statement.

Amirul, along with Khairul Anwar (Wkndfest Managing Director) and Shahrin Kamaruzaman (Operation Director), previously stated that they hoped the success of this inaugural Wkndfest would kick off the 3 Wkndfest series that they planned to hold throughout 2019-2020, focusing on K-Pop, Hip-Hop and Pop.
