King & Prince member Ren Nagase is set to star in his first romantic comedy role in the new Fuji TV drama, “It’s Hard to Fall in Love with a Rich Man” (translated title).
The drama will have the singer playing the role of a selfish heir of a major apparel manufacturer, who meets and falls in love with a thrifty commoner girl.
His leading lady will be former Nogizaka46 member, Mizuki Yamashita. This will mark their first collaboration.
Speaking about the role, Ren said that the character will be a bit “exaggerated” version of his own personality, calling him “free-spirited and narcissistic”.
As for working with Mizuki for the first time, he said, “Even before I met her, I thought she seems reliable. After actually meeting and talking to her, I realised she is indeed dependable.”
Filming will begin in early December.
