Michael Hui couldn’t help but feel touched over his new movie, “The Last Dance” earning more than HKD 60 million after only 10 days of release.
The actor, who appeared at a special event for the movie, stated that he is very excited with the film’s success, saying that he was even greeted by members of the public who told him that they cried watching the movie as much as they laughed watching his past comedy films.
“I have never heard someone crying with me in my movies. This film really is magic and has great influence,” he declared.
Asked why he was very emotional about the success, Michael said that the film market has been weak in recent years and many people complained that the government is not helping the film industry.
“Audiences have high demands now. They want good dramas and new elements, so screenwriters have to be bold,” he said.
It is noted that the film has also been doing well overseas, having exceeded RM3 million (approx. USD 5.21 million) in Malaysia.
