Sammo Hung is set to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming 61st Asia Pacific Film Festival (APFF 61).

The veteran action star, who has been active in the Hong Kong film industry for more than 60 years, will be honoured at the festival for his contribution to leading and promoting Hong Kong martial arts films.

APFF 61 organising chairman Aaron Koh expressed, “The decision to honour Sammo Hung with the Lifetime Achievement Award was unanimously adopted by the organising committee. His tireless spirit led and promoted Hong Kong action films. In terms of film development, he is one of the big brothers in the Hong Kong film industry, and his achievements are unmatched by anyone.”

The actor stars in ‘Carry On Pickpocket’

72-year-old Sammo is a film producer, director, action choreographer and actor who has won the love and praise of the audience with his unique martial arts style and agile movements. His starring roles in “Carry On Pickpocket” (1982), “Winners & Sinners” (1983), “Millionaires Express” (1986) and “Eastern Condors” (1987) were all guaranteed box office hits.

Entering the millennium, Sammo also served as the action director of “Ip Man” and “Ip Man 2”, and won the Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Action four times.

The 61st Asia-Pacific Film Festival will be held at the Wyndham Ion Majestic Hotel in Genting Highlands, Malaysia from 29 November to 1 December.
