Veteran actress Lily Li was revealed to have recently passed away.
The news was confirmed by veteran media personality Wang Man Ling, who shared a photo of the group of Shaw actresses that include Lily, and wrote, “Today, I heard a sad news again. It was reported that Lily Li had passed away yesterday due to cancer.”
She shared that among the Shaw actresses whose group photo she shared on social media, five of the eight of them have passed away, including Ching Li, Fan Ying, Lily, Cheng Peipei and Chin Ping.
Meanwhile, Lily’s friend Victor Yim said that Lily suffered from terminal lung cancer, and that the actress did not follow up with medical checkup prior to the diagnosis.
The actress reportedly found out the cancer had spread earlier this month.
Lily enrolled in the Shaw Brothers Actors Training Academy at the age of 16, and made her debut in 1964 with the movie, “The Last Woman of Shang”. After her contract with Shaw ended in 1975, she went on to join ATV and then TVB where she acted in roles in dramas like “Blood Debt” and “Drunken Fist II”.
However, she was most known for films like “The Wandering Swordsman”, “Executioners from Shaolin”, “One Foot Crane” and “The Young Master”.
She was 74.
