Pang Yuchang’s victory at the Golden Deer Awards was not the only thing that surprised fans and audience alike when he appeared on stage to accept his accolade.
It was the shape of his face that went from “U” to “V”, as described by the Chinese media, that had everybody talking.
The actor, who bested Huang Bo and Zhu Yilong to win Best Actor for his performance as Lu Tu in the movie, “Viva La Vida”, appeared to have lost a lot of weight since his “Back to Field” days, sparking rumours that he has been shedding his weight following his stint in the variety show.
It is noted that Peng did say he will try to get fit and return to his main job as an actor after the show is over.
However, when asked in an interview following his win, Peng said that his weight loss was actually due to appendicitis, adding, “I lost a lot of weight after the surgery.”
Meanwhile, the actor expressed his happiness over his Best Actor win, writing on social media, “This is the most meaningful gift I have received before I turned 30. I will continue to work hard in the future. Lu Tu, look, hope is always there, and the sun is shining.”
