Haruka Komiyama is set to graduate from AKB48 early next year.

The news was announced by the singer during the “Boku no Taiyou” performance held at the AKB48 Theatre in Tokyo on 30 August, saying, “I feel like I’ve done everything I could with my time in AKB48. I’ve had so much fun as an idol!”

“After my role as captain of Team K ended, I had more time to think about my future, and I’m very happy that I’ve decided to move on to the next path after gaining so much experience,” she added.

The specific date of her graduation and her final activities will be announced as soon as they are decided.

Finally, Haruka wrote, “My graduation is still a while away, but I will do my best to show my true colours as an idol in the remaining half a year and give back to all my fans!”

Haruka debuted as a member of the 15th generation in 2013. She was selected for the first time for the single “High Tension” released in November 2016. When the group was reorganised at the end of 2017, she was appointed captain of Team K.
