Ada Choi recently revealed that she had given actress Sun Li a fright after the Sun Li found out that she was pregnant on the set of “The Legend of Zhen Huan” (also known “Empresses in the Palace”).
The actress, who reunited with some of the cast members sans Sun Li in the new programme, “New Travel Legend”, shared that she and Sun Li had to film a scene where her character, the Empress Ula-Nara Yixiu was pushed down by Zhen Huan while Ada herself was pregnant at the time.
“I hadn’t told anybody about the pregnancy at the time, so Sun Li didn’t know. But for the sake of realism, I specifically told Sun Li to push hard and I will use the force to stabilise myself,” she said.
Ada said that Sun Li was horrified when she found out about the pregnancy, saying that she shouldn’t have pushed Ada hard.
“I told her it’s okay. You didn’t even know,” she added.
The actress added that she had already experienced miscarriage prior, and so she decided to keep a more relaxed attitude when she found out she was pregnant while filming the series.
“I understood that no matter how careful I protect the child, I might not be able to keep it. Thus, I decided to hide the fact that I was pregnant,” she said, adding that Sun Li would definitely avoid from pushing her too hard and eventually reduce the emotional impact of the dramatic scene if she knew.
