(G)I-DLE’s camp has recently released a statement of apology following the controversy relating to the stage outfit that the girls wore during their KBS2 “Music Bank” performance.
As reported on Donga, on 22 July, Cube Entertainment stated through their official social media account, “We are aware that there was a problem with the stage outfits. We have contacted the Korean Red Cross to apologise, and we are actively discussing ways to prevent a recurrence and take follow-up measures.”
They added, “We would like to once again apologise to everyone who was inconvenienced.”
It is noted that the group received backlash over the said outfit that they wore while performing the new song, “Klaxon”, which has the Red Cross emblem.
Article 25 of the Korean National Red Cross Organisation Act stipulates that “Anyone other than the Red Cross, military medical institutions, or those who have received approval for use from the Red Cross may not use the Red Cross emblem with a red Greek cross on a white background or a similar emblem for business or propaganda purposes.”
Violators are subject to a fine of up to KRW 10 million or a penalty surcharge of up to KRW 5 million.
Meanwhile, Korea’s Red Cross stated that while they have never received any request to use the emblem, they have determined that there was no malicious intent and thus no penalty will be imposed.
