Erika Sawajiri couldn’t help but feel an immense gratitude over the support she received after making her acting comeback through the stage play, “A Streetcar Named Desire”.
The actress, who had been on a four-year hiatus following her previous drug possession matter, received a standing ovation during the final performance of the play staged at the Morinomiya Piloti Hall in Osaka.
Speaking to the public during the curtain call, Erika said, “I have a lot of feelings and I want to say a lot of things, but I just want to say thank you to everyone.”
“I would like to thank everyone at the company, my family, and friends who have supported me so far, as well as the director and all the staff who have worked with me to create this stage production. I’m grateful to have been able to perform on stage with all the wonderful co-stars. And most of all, thank you to all the fans for waiting until now,” she continued.
Erika also promised that she will work hard and to continue to grow as a person and as an actor, and that she will now start fresh.
The actress was arrested back in November 2019 on suspicion of possessing MDMA at her home. She reportedly admitted at the time to have been using drugs since she was 19.
