Tony Leung couldn’t help but feel touched as he won his very own Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival.

The Hong Kong star, who was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival, told the media that he is happy to finally have the trophy to himself instead of sharing it with anybody.

It is noted that three of his movies had won a Golden Lion before, including Ang Lee’s “Lust, Caution” and Hou Hsiao-hsien’s “A City of Sadness”.

“Movies are the work of a team, and my part is to help the director express what he wants to express. For the past 41 years, I feel that I had been doing my own job well to reduce the director’s burden. So everybody must be very focused in their roles and do their best. Not just actors, everyone should be responsible for themselves,” he expressed.

It is noted that Tony is the first ever Chinese actor to win the said honour, after directors John Woo and Ann Hui.
