Taiwanese singer A-Lin finally bagged the Best Female Singer (Mandarin) award this year at the Golden Melody Awards.
As reported on Oriental Daily, the singer, who had lost in the category four times in the past, won the accolade for her tenth album, “Link”, besting other contenders including Lala Hsu, Yisa Yu, as well as Malaysian singer-songwriter, Penny Tai.
During her speech, A-Lin expressed, “I am sorry I might have to take up some of the audience’s time because I have rehearsed this walk for 16 years. This is a written statement I have prepared all these years for the six times [including a nomination for Best New Artist] I’ve been nominated.”
Thanking those who worked with her on her new album as well as her friends and fans, the singer then spoke to her parents, who attended the ceremony as well, saying, “Mum! We have a GMA for our harvest fest this year!”
Other winners at the event include Hush, who won Best Male Singer (Mandarin), Wu Ching-Feng, whose album “Mallarme’s Tuesday” won Album of the Year, as well as Hung Pei-Yu, who won Best New Artist.
