Carl Ng recently took to social media to remember his father, Richard Ng, as he prepared for the late actor’s funeral.
On 7 May, the actor shared a photo of the “Lucky Stars” star, and wrote, “I went to his bedside one morning in April. To wake him for his breakfast. He greeted me with ‘I tried to die last night, didn’t work.’ I replied, ‘Maybe try something you’re good at, like living.'”
“We both laughed. But we both knew. Like all things in life. Laughter or sorrow, happiness or fears. We will look back, sometimes with regret, sometimes with joy. And remember, this too shall pass,” he added.
Speaking to the media at the funeral held in Hung Hom on 8 May, Carl stated that he was in grief for quite a while following Richard’s death, but that he has now learned to accept that his father has now gone to a better place.
“Our relationship is like more friends than father and son. I miss his sense of humour so much. I’m going to get myself his sense of humour back,” he said.
Among the celebrity friends who were seen at the funeral include Sammo Hung, John Shum and David Chiang.
Richard Ng passed away in early April, after suffering from many ailments. He was 83.
