Despite losing her mother just a few days ago, Hong Kong filmmaker Kearen Pang still came out to attend the audience appreciation events for her new movie, “Mama’s Affair”.
As reported on Mingpao, on 19 September, the director shared a photo of her holding her mother’s frail hand, and shared that she chose to continue with her schedule following her mother’s passing.
“After leaving the hospital, I went home for a quick wash and attended several audience appreciation events. The atmosphere was a little different today. Before coming out at the second show, I hid in the back to watch the music video. When I saw [Jer Lau’s] Tsz Hin’s final line ‘Mommy’, I knew that this title would become a call-in memory.”
Kearen admitted that while she is saddened by the loss, she also felt love and connection.
“I wrote a story that started with grandma, while my story with mama came to an end for now. When I kissed your face for the last time, it was cold as usual. In the end I held your hand, it was very soft and very warm as usual,” she added.
Starring Teresa Mo, Keung To and Jer Lau, “Mama’s Affair” tells the story of a former top artiste manager turned housewife who finds herself struggling to balance her family and career after discovering a new star.
