It was a big night for Patrick Tse, who finally won his first Hong Kong Film Awards’ Best Actor title, making him the oldest actor to have won the accolade.

As reported on Sina News, the 85-year-old actor, who won for his performance in “Time”, bested worthy contenders including Francis Ng and Gordon Lam, the latter who was nominated for two movies in the same category.

Despite it being his very first time holding the accolade, Patrick, who was helped on to the stage by his competitor Gordon (who is also a producer of his said movie), had a simple speech – thanking everybody for the honour.

It is noted that this is also the first time that the veteran actor is nominated and wins at the Hong Kong Film Awards, after having already been given the Lifetime Achievement Award – which is usually seen as a “consolation” prize for a veteran actor – back in 2019.

Patrick’s win is no surprise, seeing that he has already won the recognition as Best Actor from the Hong Kong Film Directors Guild and the Hong Kong Film Critics Society earlier this year.
