Beauty queen Bea Santiago is grateful to have finally undergone her kidney transplant after three years on dialysis.
On 28 April, the Miss International 2013 shared a couple of photos of her in the Toronto General Hospital, and wrote, “NEW KIDNEY WHO THIS?”
“Thank you to my baby brother’s love and bean I am changed. Thank you, world, for showing me kindness and patience and of course to my family, friends and strangers for your support, countless prayers and positive energy. FINALLY AFTER THE 3rd TIME AND 3 YEARS OF DIALYSIS! I FEEL BRAND NEW!!! I FEEL LOVED AND RENEWED! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!”
In another post, she shared the photo from the first time she had her dialysis and her last one, and expressed, “Dialysis helped me stay clean for 3 years which initially saved my life. I thank Dr Willem Johan Kolff, the father of Dialysis and ofcourse our Renal rockstar my Dialysis doctor, Dr Chan of Toronto General who pushed HOME HEMO DIALYSIS. My nurses, ELizabeth Wong and Eduardo Magtoto who tirelessly helped me for 3 years.”
“Bea Rose Santiago, Dialysis patient, now TRANSPLANT PATIENT, saying AS LONG AS WE’RE TOGETHER, THERE WILL BE HOPE!” she added.
It was back in 2021 that Bea opened up about her end-stage renal failure, saying that she needed to undergo dialysis five times a week since she was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in 2018.
