After telling fans that she is returning to acting, it was revealed that KC Concepcion is replacing Toni Gonzaga in the upcoming Asian-American movie, “Asian Persuasion”.
As reported on Variety, the film had originally casted Toni in the lead role opposite Fil-Am actor Dante Basco, but that the actress had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts.
KC also confirmed the news with an Instagram post that read, “Onto day 3 of filming @asianpersuasionfilm! Thank you for joining us on this new journey. Grateful to be part of this Asian-American project, with our amazing cast & crew.”
A directorial debut of the three-time Tony and Grammy-award winning producer Jhett Tolentino, “Asian Persuasion” follows a down-on-his-luck chef who cooks up a crazy scheme to marry off his ex-wife in an attempt to avoid his substantial alimony obligations.
Among other co-stars include Kevin Kreider, Paolo Montalban, Celia Au, Tony Labrusca, and Black Eyed Peas’ Apl.de.Ap.
Prior to the announcement, KC teased about her comeback in an Instagram post about her birthday, writing, “Coming back to acting + living in New York for work is another dream come true. Keep dreaming new dreams loves.”
