Model-actress Louise Wong is elated to find out that she has been nominated not in one, but two categories at the upcoming Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA).
On 16 February, following the announcement made by the HKFA committee that had actor Nick Cheung reading the list of nominees, Louise took to social media to express her gratitude, writing, “Grateful, grateful, grateful. No matter what the result is, I will continue to work hard.”
She also expressed her thanks to everybody who supported her movie, “Anita”.
It is noted that Louise has been nominated in the Best Actress category for her portrayal of the legendary Hong Kong diva Anita Mui in the aforementioned movie, while at the same time being nominated in the Best New Performer category.
Louise will be facing competition from Chrissie Chau (“Madalena”), Sandra Ng (“Zero to Hero”), Gong Li (“Leap”), as well as Cya Liu (“Limbo”) in the Best Actress category. It is noted that her four competitors have already been awarded for their performances in their respective films at other awards.
On the other hand, her movie “Anita” is also being nominated in Best Film, Best Director for Longman Leung, Best Supporting Actor for Louis Koo, and Best Supporting Actress for Fish Liew among others, bringing a total of 12 nominations.
However, it was Gordon Lam’s “Limbo” that bagged the most nominations with 14, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor for Gordon.
