Former SMAP member Shingo Katori has recently tied the knot with his non-showbiz girlfriend.
The news was announced by the 44-year-old singer-actor via his agency, saying that the two of them have registered their marriage a few days ago.
“The other party is an outsider, and I will work hard after getting married. I hope everybody will continue to support me,” he stated.
Japanese media also reported that Katori’s bride is two years older than him and has been with Katori for more than 25 years.
Katori was part of the now-disbanded pop group SMAP alongside Masahiro Nakai, Takuya Kimura, Goro Inagaki, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, and Katsuyuki Mori. After leaving talent agency Johnny & Associates, Katori formed the new group Atarashii Chizu with Inagaki and Kusanagi.
