It was a huge win for Jun Robles Lana’s “Big Night!”, bagging eight accolades at the 2021 Metro Manila Film Festival’s Gabi ng Parangal (Awards Night).

The movie, which stars Christian Bables as a gay beautician who is determined to clear his name after finding out that he is included in a drug watchlist, won Best Picture and other major categories including Best Director for filmmaker Jun Robles Lana and Best Actor for the said actor.

Aside from that, it also won Best Supporting Actor for John Arcilla, Best Musical Score, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, as well as Gender Sensitivity Award.

Trailing behind is Carlo Francisco Manatad’s “Whether the Weather is Fine” (“Kun Maupay Man it Panahon”), which won seven accolades including Best Actress for Charo Santos-Concio, Best Visual Effect, as well as the Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award.

Now in its 47th edition, the Metro Manila Film Festival’s Gabi ng Parangal was held in Taguig City on 27 December. Last year, the award ceremony went online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
