Nicholas Tse was recently named Best Actor at the 13th Macau International Movie Festival.
The actor, who won for his performance in Benny Chan’s “Raging Fire”, stated that winning the said accolade was quite meaningful to him as it was his last film with the late director prior to the filmmaker’s death.
“I am also particularly happy to win an award for a Hong Kong action movie because this type of action films don’t exist anymore. Tsui Hark is known for his wuxia action films, Dante Lam specialises in gun and military-style war, and now Benny’s unique action style no longer exists,” he said.
Aside from Nicholas’ Best Actor win, the festival also awarded Benny posthumously the Best Director accolade.
Nicholas, who accepted the award on Benny’s behalf, stated that he looks forward to the movie receiving even more recognition in future events.
“It would be a proper way to answer to Benny, who worked hard to finish the movie,” he added.
