The upcoming John Lloyd Cruz-starrer, “Historya Ni Ha” will be having its world premiere in London.
As reported on Inquirer, the upcoming movie, directed by John Lloyd frequent collaborator Lav Diaz, will be premiering at the 65th BFI London Film Festival in the United Kingdom, which will run from 7 to 17 October.
Set in 1957, John Lloyd plays the role of Hernando Alamada in the movie, a Filipino ventriloquist and a former socialist cadre, who fulfils the last leg of his performing tour on the Mayflower cruise ship. He has been away for several years, and now returns home to marry his sweetheart, but only to have his heart broken. He then decides that he will only communicate with the world through his puppet Ha.
Said Lav Diaz, “Akin to the Filipino ‘bodabil,’ he finds himself on the gate of the theater of the absurd, a descent to burlesque, madness, to stark realities, and, ultimately, an ascent to his own redemption. This is the story of Hernando, a disillusioned Marxist, teacher and a great vaudeville artist, and his friend, the quintessential Ha.”
The upcoming movie co-stars Mae Paner, Teroy Guzman, Dolly de Leon, Hazel Cruz, Earl Ignacio, and Jonathan Francisco.
