Liza Soberano has been quite vocal in her recent opinions about various issues, and she has her colleagues like Angel Locsin and Pia Wurtzbach to thank for that.

As reported on Push, the actress, who spoke about her recent decision to be more open about her views on political and social issues on “Between Us Queens” podcast, stated that she felt more empowered seeing her colleagues starting to speak up last year amid the pandemic and the denial of ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal.

“When I saw that courage coming from them, it inspired me to speak up. It made me even braver so I have all of them to thank because they kind of opened up that door for me,” she said.

Liza stated that she used to avoid speaking up in the past in fear of having her words being twisted, despite the fact that she has always been opinionated.

“I was always the type to speak up if I felt like there are injustices happening. But that wasn’t something that I showed in my career or in showbiz because I saw at an early age how vicious people can be when you speak up,” she said.

“I’ve experienced people twisting my words and taking it the wrong way because sometimes I have a hard time explaining myself, especially if I have to speak in Tagalog.”
