Japanese star Takuya Kimura has recently been announced as part of the international cast of the upcoming European series, “The Swarm”.
The series, which is based on the Frank Schätzing best-selling thriller sci-fi novel, “Der Schwarm”, will star Takuya as a founder of a team of scientists whose character is described as “rational and authoritative”.
The upcoming project will be produced by Frank Doegler (“Game of Thrones”), and will star actors from various different countries including Belgian actress Cécile de France, Britain’s Sharon Duncan-Brewster, German star Barbara Sukowa, Canadian Joshua Odjick and American-Italian actress Rosabell Laurenti Sellers.
Joining Takuya is Takehiro Hira of “Giri/Haji” fame.
Said Doegler about Takuya, “I am looking forward to working with Japan’s most famous artiste.”
The original novel chronicles the struggle of humankind against an unknown swarm intelligence that lives in the depths of the sea.
The synopsis read, “When humanity’s pollution and wanton exploitation of the seas disturb this mysterious collective, it strikes back, threatening all human life on earth. The fate of the world rests in the hands of a small group of scientists.”
