A major fire recently broke in the ND Studios, a famous film set known for its use as the backdrop of the 2008 Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai-starrer, “Jodhaa Akbar”.

The studio, located at Karjat in Maharashtra, was engulfed in flames on Friday afternoon (7 May), with local authorities suspecting a short circuit in the electrical unit of the set as the cause for the fire.

A major portion of the set has now been destroyed, after almost an hour and a half of work by firefighters in an effort to bring the fire under control.

Owned by Indian art director Nitin Desai, the studio was also the set of several other movies, including “Bajirao Mastani”, “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”, as well as Oscar winner “Slumdog Millionaire”.

It is noted that though “Jodhaa Akbar” was released in 2008, the film set was kept intact at the studio as a tourist attraction.
