Legendary actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai was recently granted the honorary doctorate in humanities by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).
On 23 November, the actor appeared alongside Jensen Huang, co-founder and CEO of the AI chip leader NVIDIA, who was also awarded an honorary doctorate in the same ceremony.
Presenting his speech in English, the actor said with a nervous smile that he had never experienced college life and didn’t know where to start, but eventually summed up his experience from his 42 years in the acting industry.
Stressing that what he has achieved and all that he has today were through hard work, discipline and a lot of luck. He further shared two key components of a successful career.
“First, maintain your original intention with every new role, allowing yourself to feel like a newcomer. Don’t constantly remind yourself of your experience, as that can be a hindrance. Second, always strive to improve and pursue what you love, keeping your passion for your work alive,” he expressed.
