Sammi Cheng has dismissed the notion that she only wanted to do acting projects that will win her her next award, following her Best Actress win at the Hong Kong Film Awards last year.
The singer, whose acting career seemed to have halted since her 2023 win for her performance in “Lost Love”, explained that she still received lots of scripts since then, but that none of the roles suited her.
“I don’t put any pressure on filming just because I won an award. I wasn’t being selective of the scripts. I just want to wait for the roles that speak to me,” she said.
Sammi said that she has lots of projects currently under negotiations for next year, adding that she wants to enjoy her life more now that she is older.
The singer also revealed that she has been using her rest time to take good care of her mother.
On the other hand, when asked if she would guest perform at Andy Lau’s upcoming concert, Sammi said that she would be too embarrassed to recommend herself.
“A lot of people would want to be the guest performer at his show,” she added.
