Chung Suet Ying was recently named Best Actress, besting other veteran contenders for the accolade at the recently held prestigious 61st Golden Horse Awards.
The Hong Kong actress defeated stars like Sandra Ng and Patra Au in her performance as a deaf girl in “The Way We Talk”, and expressed, “I am a person who loves movies. Thank you to every nominee, because you are all the people I have watched since I was a child. Because of your continuous efforts, I fell in love with movies.”
Then she put down her trophy and in sign language, she expressed, “Thank you to my friends who helped me with sign language. This is a story about deaf people in Hong Kong. Without your help, I could not complete the film.”
