Zhao Lusi found herself in another controversy after she made a mistake in mentioning the actual number of years for China and France’s diplomatic relations.
The actress, who was appointed the China-France Environmental Month Promotional Ambassador, misspoke during a speech at a related exchange event to mark the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations, saying that it was the 40th year instead of 60th.
She then turned to the host to ask, and after being corrected, went back to her speech to change it.
The speech, which was recorded on video, had since gone viral, with netizens slamming the actress for being “illiterate”.
“Zhao Lusi dared to talk nonsense on a serious topic of diplomatic relations,” said one netizen.
“How can she participate in a foreign affairs event as a representative of the country without doing any homework?” said another.
Meanwhile, others are saying that this is not the first time that the actress did not do her homework when it comes to her work, as she had previously got information on a historical event wrong while promoting a period drama that she starred in.
