After months of filming, Fan Bingbing recently announced that she has wrapped up shooting the Malaysian-Italian production, “Mother Bhumi”.
On 19 October, the actress shared several photos from the press event held at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, and wrote, “Officially wrapped on ’Mother Bhumi‘! I’m so grateful for my connection with Malaysia and for [director Chong Keat Aun].”
“Can you believe I learned 6 languages for this film? Pali, Siamese, Hokkien, Malay, Indonesian, and Malaysian-accented Mandarin!” she added.
During the press event, Fan was asked about the salary she got for the movie, to which she responded, “The pay is not an important thing for me, nor is it the biggest motivation for my arts. I have made many art films with very low pay. Film art has nothing to do with the pay.”
The movie stars Fan as a farmer named Feng Yin, who helps villagers resolve land disputes during the day and does exorcisms at night, that is until she encounters a series of strange occurances and uncovers the mystery of her husband’s death.
It is scheduled for July or August release next year, at the earliest.
