JJ Lin recently admitted that there was a time in his career early on that he had considered quitting the music industry due to online bullying.
In a recent interview on the show, “Cong He Shuo Qi”, the Taiwan-based Singaporean singer-songwriter stated that he has always regarded his fans as part of his music family and cherished their opinion and comments. However, as the online world continue to change and evolve, he found it harder to distinguish what the internet represented.
“When they are being led astray, I can’t really blame anyone. But the problem is that I care. When I am dragged into these negative vortices, I am easily affected by negative energy, which naturally makes me sad.”
At his lowest point, JJ said he had considered shutting down all social media platforms and no longer share about his life with the public.
He confessed, “I even thought about whether I should continue to sing, whether I should continue to be an artiste, whether I should release an album, or whether I should hold concerts.”
He said that he was indeed in a state of depression and disappointment during that time.
Nonetheless, JJ assured that he could never give up music and instead will take all positive and negative comments now to further encourage himself.
