Chin Ka Lok has recently expressed his sadness over news of veteran star Cheng Pei-pei’s passing.
As reported on Mingpao, the TV personality, who spoke to the media at the recording of the TVB game show, “Big Brother Mid-Autumn Appreciation Festival”, revealed that the two of them were in the same management company many years ago.
“We had a close relationship. When I auditioned for the movie ‘Lust, Caution’ directed by Ang Lee, I had to memorise two pages of Mandarin dialogue. My Mandarin was not good enough, so Sister Peipei helped me learn by recording her own reading,” he said.
Chin continued that it was all thanks to Cheng that he was cast in the film, adding, “I am very grateful.”
Cheng, known for wuxia movies like “Come Drink with Me” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, was diagnosed with a rare illness with symptoms similar to Parkinson’s disease back in 2019, but chose to keep the diagnosis private and spend her remaining time with her children and grandchildren. She passed away on 17 July at home in the US.
She was 78.
