Renowned composer and music producer Pharrell Williams was revealed to have participated as a composer and lyricist in the Japanese debut single of the South Korean girl group NewJeans.
According to NewJeans’ agency ADOR on 13 May, Pharrell Williams’ name was listed in the credits of NewJeans’ Japanese debut single “Supernatural”.
“Supernatural” is described as a song that creates an exquisite harmony between a melody that evokes nostalgia for the past and the members’ emotional vocals.
ADOR stated, “Producer 250 took Pharrell Williams’ iconic ad-lib and bridge from ‘Back of My Mind’, a collaboration with Japanese singer Manami in 2009, and reinterpreted it in a new jack swing style.”
NewJeans’ Japanese debut single “Supernatural” will be released on the 21st of next month. This single contains a total of four songs, including the title song of the same name and the song, “Right Now”, the latter which attracted attention as it was partially released as a commercial song for Lotte Zero on 9 May.
