The open walk-in auditions for upcoming season to be held on Sunday, 26 May from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the theatre
After a four-year hiatus triggered by the pandemic, performing arts centre Encore Melaka is seeking performing arts talents in preparation for a new season of world-class theatrical productions.
Located just 3.5km from Melaka’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, Encore Melaka is an architectural marvel boasting Southeast Asia’s first 360-degree rotating auditorium that seats 2,000, and is a multi-venue performing arts centre. It is on a mission to showcase Malaysian performing arts talents to the world, offering immersive cultural and entertainment experiences for visitors.
It first opened its door in July 2018, and was the coveted home of the first oversea stage performance of China’s iconic Impression Series (established in 1998 by renowned directors, Zhang Yimou, Fan Yue and Wang Chaoge). The highly acclaimed production featured over 200 artistes performing against a background of mesmerising water scenes and immersive projection mapping that need to be seen to be believed.
Encore Melaka’s founder, Datuk Wira Boo Kuang Loon said “After successfully navigating the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic, we are filled with immense pride to take centre stage once again. With tourists returning to travel and Melaka being a popular destination for its rich cultural experience, we are excited to welcome a fresh wave of local talent to join us in creating vibrant new productions.”
Joining forces with WYC Dance Studio and Arts Centre (WYC DSAC) to offer a platform for both established and emerging artistes to showcase their skills, Encore Melaka is thrilled to announce open walk-in auditions on Sunday, 26 May from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the theatre itself.
Requirements:
- Age: 18-30 years old
- Passion for the performing arts
- A 1-minute prepared performance showcasing your skills (optional, but highly encouraged)
- Previous stage experience (an advantage, but not required)
Interested artistes are advised to fill out the form and attend the walk-in audition for a streamlined process. For those unable to attend in person, they shall need to complete the form by 5pm, 26 May 2024, and they will be contacted separately.
