Huang Zitao has recently decided to apologise following the issue concerning him and Dutch DJ Martin Garrix whereupon the singer made an outburst.
In the early morning of 21 April, the former EXO member expressed, “I would like to sincerely apologise to the organisers, brands, and all viewers for my last inappropriate remarks during tonight’s performance. As a public figure, my words and deeds set a bad example and had a negative impact.”
“For this reason, I will take this as a warning, accept everyone’s criticism and supervision, and prevent this from happening again. I hope tonight’s episode will not hurt anyone or affect everyone’s mood. Thank you again for coming tonight and wish you all a good night,” he added.
The issue sparked after the singer, also known by his stage name Tao, who was supposed to perform with the DJ, was nowhere to be seen as Garrix began his show. Tao then stated that Garrix didn’t come to the rehearsal and that he had to go alone without having dinner, only for the DJ to leave the stage before his performance.
Meanwhile, Garrix denied the allegations, saying that from the very beginning he wasn’t supposed to be on stage with Tao. However, after he found out that Tao heard differently, Garrix tried everything to make it work.
“We invited him on stage during my set to do a photo together. We were supposed to meet him even before the stage, before the set with Max, he didn’t show up there. It was a Heineken activation. Then during a set, I said okay, we can do it as an outro together. After my outro, I was starting the song, and that’s what happened,” he said, adding that Tao didn’t show up, and was instead “hiding” in the toilets in the dressing room area.
Garrix also clarified that he didn’t come to a sound check that was “supposed to be” the day before because he only arrived in Shanghai in the morning.
