Fans of the show “Sisters Who Make Waves” had mixed feelings after seeing a name in the list of female stars who will be joining the fifth season of the show.
As reported on Oriental Daily, the show, which is also known as “Ride the Wind 2024”, recently revealed the line-up of contestants, ranging from Taiwanese stars like Cheryl Yang, Bea Hayden and Yao Yao, to mainland veterans like Qiong Yao and Qi Wei.
However, many were perplexed after finding that the list also included the social media influencer and entrepreneur Grace Chow.
A debate has now sparked between two factions over Grace’s participation. One group is saying that the content creator has never had to face struggles in the entertainment industry and has no professional music talent for her to be a part of the show.
Meanwhile, Grace’s supporters stated that Grace is a topical figure whose participation can increase the show’s visibility and interest from people who have never watched the show.
It is noted that the influencer was not globally famous prior to her relationship to Taiwanese singer Show Lo. However, following their high-profile breakup, Grace went on to gain more followers outside of China.
