It is outrageous that Miley Cyrus hadn’t won a Grammy throughout her career. But now she has.
Two of them, to be exact.
The singer, whose song “Flowers” became one of 2023’s biggest hits, won Record of the Year at the recently held event, besting contenders like Jon Batiste (“Worship”) and Olivia Rodrigo (“Vampire”) among others.
Meanwhile, she herself won Best Pop Solo Performance for the said song, defeating contenders that include Billie Eilish (“What Was I Made For”) and Taylor Swift (“Anti-Hero”).
The elated Miley even expressed her happiness during a live performance of the song, changing a verse of the song to “I don’t want to leave you (but I had to), I don’t want to fight (but we did), started to cry, but then remembered I just won my first Grammy!”
Sharing her thoughts on her win on Instagram she wrote, “I celebrate my fans above all else. No award means as much to me as the years we’ve spent together. You SAW me before this recognition. I never needed it because I HAVE YOU. A day doesn’t pass that I don’t spend at least a moment thanking heaven for sending me such supportive earth angels. I love you with my entire heart. To many more years together.”
It is noted that “Flowers” topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for eight weeks after its release and broke Spotify’s record for most streams in one week with over 100 million listens.
