Taiwanese singer-actor Aaron Yan has now been indicted by prosecutors in accordance with the Child and Juvenile Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act.
As reported on Mingpao, the 37-year-old actor, who was previously accused by his former partner Raku of filming, possessing and disseminating their intimate videos, was indicted for both offences.
During the investigation, Aaron argued that he did not leak the videos himself, and that it might have happened when he sent his phone to be repaired. He also stressed that he had asked Raku, who was underage at the time, for consent before filming the intimate videos.
While prosecutors were persuaded by the actor’s statement, they also noted that Aaron did send the videos to two netizens in May 2019 and February 2020.
In a statement on social media on 8 November, Aaron stated that he will maintain his attitude and will face the issue head on.
He also thanked his friends, family, and everyone who had only met him once for encouraging him and said, “As for what I absolutely did not do, I would like to thank the prosecutor again for his clear explanation. Regarding any violations of the law, I will definitely abide by my promise, continue to contribute to society, and continue to focus on self-examination and self-growth.”
Aaron could face six months to five years in prison and a fine of up to NTD 500,000 for the offence.
