Jenny Zhang (Zhang Jiani)’s appearance at BLACKPINK Lisa’s Crazy Horse show might have brought trouble for the actress, as she later suffered backlash from her mainland fans for it.
It was just last month that Blackpink’s Lisa performed five exclusive shows at the French burlesque club. This angers fans, especially from China, who deemed the establishment as a strip club. Meanwhile, others supported Lisa, stressing that Crazy Horse is a place of art and not a sleazy establishment.
As reported on Oriental Daily, Zhang Jiani was photographed waving to fans in front of the Crazy Horse entrance during one of the days that Lisa was performing. She was then accused of being a hypocrite by netizens, who stated that she enjoyed “playing a heroine in a drama but also went to watch a show that objectified women.”
Some netizens also noticed that a promotional poster for her new drama, “Good Things Come in Twos”, which was a group portrait that featured her character, was deleted by CCTV, with a new poster of only the leads replacing it.
Some also alleged that CCTV has suspended the promotion of the said drama, and that no other TV station has acquired it for a second round of airing.
Zhang Jiani was the second actress who has been slammed by netizens for attending the Crazy Horse show. Earlier, Angelababy, who was also photographed near the premise after attending Fashion Week, was accused of violating the morality clause set by the Chinese Association of Performing Arts, in which entertainers are prohibited from organising or participating in activities that are related to explicit content.
Both Angelababy and Zhang Jiani are still mum about the controversy.
