Britney Spears recently slammed the media for some of the controversial headlines that came out in promotion of her new memoir, “The Woman in Me”, as former boyfriend Justin Timberlake suddenly felt the heat again over a chapter in the book.
On 21 October, the pop star released a statement via social media, saying that the purpose of her book was not to offend anybody by any means, and was just memories of the past.
“I don’t like the headlines I am reading… that’s exactly why I quit the business 4 years ago! Most of the book is from 20 years ago… I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here!!” she wrote.
At the same time, Britney described the memoir as “a book that I didn’t know needed to be written”, as it brought her closure on all things for a better future.
“Hopefully, I can enlighten people who feel particularly alone in most cases or hurt or misunderstood. Again, my motive for this book was not to harp on my past experiences, which is what the press is doing and it’s dumb and silly! I have moved on since then!” she reiterated.
Last week, a chapter from her memoir made headlines, as Britney opened up for the first time her experience of having to terminate her pregnancy as Justin Timberlake, who was her boyfriend at the time, was not ready to become a father.
The revelation had since sparked another backlash against the “Cry Me A River” singer, whom fans of the pop star believed to be one of the people who caused her downward spiral following their breakup. She also admitted to have cheated on Justin once with choreographer Wade Robson, though stated that he did the same with “another celebrity” whom she would not name.
