Britney Spears and Sam Asghari reportedly are calling it quits on their marriage.
The news was first reported by TMZ, with sources claiming that it was Sam who filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
The date of the separation was also listed as 28 July 2023, according to E!
The couple met in 2016 on the set of Britney’s “Slumber Party” music video. The two dated for five years before they tied the knot in June 2022 in a wedding that was attended by Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez and Madonna among others.
In a previous statement by people close to Britney, Sam was a positive influence on the singer. He also supported Britney during her conservatorship battle.
The marriage is a third for Britney, who annulled her marriage after 55 hours to childhood friend Jason Alexander back in 2004 and later married Kevin Federline, whom she has two sons with prior to their divorce in 2007.
Both parties have declined to comment on the reports, though the singer seemed unperturbed by the news, posting a photo of her on a horse on Instagram and writing, “Buying a horse soon!!! So many options it’s kinda hard!!! A horse called Sophie and another called Roar??? I can’t make up my mind!!! Should I join the camaraderie and put a pink cowboy hat on???”
