Nancy Lee recently denied holding a seven-day memorial service for late sister and singer Coco Lee, who passed away last week.
As reported on Mingpao, Nancy, who has had the tough job of dismissing rumours left and right since announcing the news of her sister’s passing, stated that the family had not arranged any Buddhist ceremony for Coco, and that it could have been done instead by fans with religious beliefs.
“I didn’t deliberately ask a priest to do that, but I believe that the people who love her might have asked their priest to help with the ceremony,” she said.
Nancy said that they will be holding a formal farewell ceremony in the future, and will tell everybody when all the arrangements are made, but that she can’t disclose anything yet at this time.
At the same time, Nancy took to social media to deny a post made by a Weibo account claiming to be from Coco’s estranged husband Bruce Rockowitz’s company, reminding fans not to be deceived by those who will try to take advantage of a tragedy.
Coco breathed her last on 5 July, three days after she was rushed to the hospital following attempted suicide. She was 48.
