After several days in intensive care due to bacterial infection, Madonna finally broke her silence to reveal that she is now recuperating.

On 10 July, the icon of pop posted her statement via Instagram, saying that she is now on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in her life.

“My first thought when I woke up in hospital was my children,” she said. “My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets to my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show.”

Stressing that she doesn’t want to disappoint anyone, Madonna stated that she will focus on her health and getting stronger for the time being, and will be postponing her upcoming North American tour.

“The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe,” she added.

The North American leg of her “Celebration Tour” was originally scheduled to begin on 15 July in Vancouver, Canada. However, the tour will now begin on 14 October at London’s O2 Arena.
