RCA Records Greater China, a division of Sony Music Entertainment (SME), had announced the signing of 19-year-old singer-songwriter and Donnie Yen’s daughter, Jasmine Yen, who is releasing her debut single and music video “idk”.
She performed the single alongside unreleased material from her upcoming album during her debut performance at Majulah Music Night in Singapore on 30 July. Fans can stream “idk” here: JasmineYen.lnk.to/idk
Raised in Hong Kong, Jasmine started to nurture her talent at a young age, starting to compose when she was only seven years old. To date, she has written over 70 original songs, including 30 during the pandemic. Through her music, she hopes to inspire a generation of bold and confident girls.
Jasmine’s debut single “idk” is a lighthearted, yet powerful pop-R&B tune. Beginning with feelings of doubt towards her relationship, the song follows a girl’s journey to discovering autonomy and self-love.
Through its lyrics, “idk” conveys a simple but important message to all girls in love: follow your heart, and don’t sacrifice your joy for someone else. To love others, you must first learn to love yourself.
On signing with RCA for her debut project, Jasmine shares “I feel blessed to find my musical home in RCA Records Greater China. This is an amazing opportunity for me to pursue my dreams as an artist and singer.”
Jasmine’s debut album will be released on September 1. The focus single “tbh” will be accompanied by a dance video featuring choreography by top Chinese dance group based in Shanghai, @kumakidz. The album consists of 8 songs, written in part or fully by Jasmine. Among these songs, four are entirely in English.
