BTS’ RM will serve as a public relations ambassador for the Ministry of National Defence’s (MDA) Killed in Action Recovery & Identification team (MAKRI).
According to Big Hit Music on 31 May, RM (real name Kim Nam-Joon) will be officially appointed on 1 June, and that he will participate in various events to promote MAKRI’s projects in multiple ways.
MAKRI is an organisation that carries out recovery efforts of fallen soldiers’ remains to be returned to their families. It was established in 2000 under the command of the Army Headquarters and became independent in 2007 as a unit under the direct control of the Ministry of National Defence.
In 2016, Sungshin Women’s University professor Suh Gyeong-Deok was first appointed as the public relations ambassador, followed by veteran MC Song Hae.
This makes RM the third person to become the public relations ambassador.
Members of BTS are currently serving in the military, with plans to resume their activities as a group in 2025.
