Mat Yeung recently made his first official public appearance since his release from prison to promote his new TVB drama, “Night Beauties”.
As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who was all smiles as he greeted the media at the event held on 10 May, stated that he will be back to work again after four months of break following his release from jail back in January.
“I thank the company for their support. For now, I will just promote [this drama]. I will wait for the company to arrange other work,” he said.
Mat stated that he has put aside the past and is now working hard to move forward, adding that the good thing he got from being in jail was to cherish the things he currently has. He added that he has also given up drinking following his release, though would toast for a drink or two if he is attending any banquets.
Asked if he’s worried that the drama will get negative reviews just because of him, Mat said that he is already used to criticism.
“I will not pay any attention to malicious comments,” he said.
Mat was previously sentenced to 18 days in jail, a two-year driving suspension and a fine of HKD 2,000 after he was found guilty of driving under the influence. The charges came after he was involved in an accident back in August 2020, and was found to be intoxicated.
