Andy Lau and Tony Leung Chiu Wai are set to collaborate again in the upcoming movie, “The Goldfinger”.
Tony, who worked with Andy in “Infernal Affairs”, stated that he feels happy to be able to work with the Cantopop King again, saying, “From ‘The Duke of Mount Deer’ to ‘Infernal Affairs’ to this time, every time we work together, it is very unforgettable.”
“It’s not often that I have the opportunity to portray such a character so I found it really fun because I get to play an ordinary person who has received high education who, due to various circumstances, gradually becomes the mastermind behind the biggest fraud of the century. Just talking about this is fascinating, and I’m sure the audience will find it interesting, too. This time, we reverse the good and evil,” he said.
As for Andy, the actor said he is also elated to see Tony playing the bad guy in a Hong Kong movie, since the latter often plays the good guy.
“This time, he plays a cheater who takes advantage in the loopholes of the system,” he said.
Speaking about their friendship away from set, Tony admitted that they rarely meet in private, but that they would occasionally meet up for dinner.
“I also have congratulated Tony for winning Best Actor at the Asian Film Awards recently,” said Andy. “I want to invite him to dinner to celebrate and give him red wine.”
The upcoming movie will be helmed by Felix Chong.
