After five years in limbo, the cast of “Where the Wind Blows” is happy that the movie is finally ready to be released in cinemas.
Its stars Aaron Kwok and Tony Leung recently expressed their elation over the release when they appeared at the promotional event held in Tsim Sha Tsui recently, with Tony saying, “I am happy. The whole team was very serious about the project, so I hope everybody would like it and support it.”
Aaron echoed Tony’s sentiments, saying that Hong Kong needs high-quality movies and that he hopes that people will love it.
“I believe that the audiences will be surprised after watching it,” he added.
As to whether the movie can achieve box office status like other post-pandemic Hong Kong films like Louis Koo’s “Warriors of Future” and the Dayo Wong-starrer, “A Guilty Conscience”, Tony said that he hopes so, but that he doesn’t want to put too much pressure on the director.
Aaron added, “The box office number is not something that we can control. The duty of actors is just to do our best in putting a good show.”
“Where the Wind Blows” (previously known as “Theory of Ambitions”) was originally slated for a 2018 release and became Philip Yung’s first project since winning multiple awards for “Port of Call”, but was delayed due to lack of approval from the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA). It was also scheduled to open the 2021 Hong Kong International Film Festival, but was pulled from the lineup three days before the premiere.
The film is now slated for a 17 February release.
