Nicola Cheung recently revealed that she and her family had a “Lunar New Year miracle”, what with her eldest daughter’s recovery from her previous ailment.
On 22 January, the actress posted a family pic to wish everybody a happy New Year, and revealed that her eldest daughter suffered from influenza A, which led to meningitis, sepsis, fever and even toxic shock more than 40 days ago.
“She had two surgeries. The family all planned for the worst and she was in a coma in the ICU for more than ten days. But today, she could spend the year with her loved ones. It’s unbelievable,” she wrote.
Nicola thanked the Buddhist master who had been supporting the family throughout the ordeal, as well as the doctors and nurses at the Queen Mary Hospital who saved her daughter.
“To all the doctors doing surgery, surgical internal medicine, microbiology and other reviews, paediatric ICU and children’s ward nurse team, to the building security. The medical facilities and teams in Hong Kong are really professional and I can’t imagine how I would feel today if the incident had happened in other countries,” she added.
