AKB48’s Nana Okada recently announced that she has decided to leave the group following tabloid news about her relationship.
On 23 November, the singer, who was previously reported to be dating actor Hiroki Ino, apologised to her fans on Twitter for letting them down and taking her time to respond.
“I’ve completely betrayed my fans’ trust, and have caused many people to lose faith in me,” she wrote.
Nana stated that she once said that she would be the one to turn AKB48 into a group in which its members will do the right thing, but instead becoming the one to do the wrong thing.
“For this I am so sorry. I assure you, though, that at the time I wasn’t lying,” she continued, adding that after much consideration, she has decided to “graduate” from the group even though the management has stated that she has no need to do such a thing.
“While the date is not set yet, I plan on continuing to do my utmost as a member of this group until the end,” she added.
